Climate Models Foresee that Hurricanes are Stronger
Planet EarthChanges in hurricanes over time are difficult to study. The measurements can’t be easily compared to other measurements. Even though a study has indicated that as the world gets warmer, the hurricanes are getting stronger, it is not 100 percent certain.
The journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, has released a paper online that shows this trend. In general, as storms become more intense, major tropical cyclones occur more frequently. The study that took 39 years to complete noted that the world had become warmer each year throughout the 39-year period.
Now, other circumstances have not been disregarded. The paper does not rule out that stronger hurricanes could be due to coincidence with other trends observed. Nevertheless, the researchers can say that the stronger hurricanes exactly happen when the weather is extremely hot.
From that warming, the impact of tropical cyclones can be predicted. Other evidence such as observations and models also indicate that tropical cyclones have considerably gotten stronger these days. Researchers added that humans can be somewhat blamed for this.
