Parties, Elections and political participation

Summary
In the traditional Scandinavian model a key role was played by a “hegemonic” social democratic party close to the labour movement. In recent years, two important and related trends have taken place: the weakening of this link, and the end of social democratic hegemony. In this class we ask if these developments have undermined the basis of the Scandinavian welfare state.
