Africa, not as "Dark" as You Think
from Monday, July 5th to Saturday, July 10th 2010

Ten academics and experts from Africa, Europe and North America offer a fresh perspective to decode this pluralistic, complex and paradoxical continent and survey the successes, failures and challenges of today’s Africa. There is a French version of this course.


This course is intended for members of the public interested in international affairs and the cultures and peoples of the world, members of NGOs, public office holders, diplomats, journalists and business managers.

The course is offered by the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and can be taken for credit (3 credits, GEO6292) by graduate students. Undergraduate students may also enroll on specific conditions. Credited students are requested to attend two additional seminars: on Sunday, July 4th (from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm) and Monday July 12th (from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm).
